The Staff Accountant is a non-exempt position primarily responsible for generating payroll, coordinating employee benefits, preparing accurate and timely financial data and performing a variety of GAAP general ledger accounting tasks.
An Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration plus a minimum of three years Accounting experience OR a combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.

General Employment Conditions
Drug-Free and Alcohol Free Workplace
Selected candidate must be able to comply with MTA’s Drug and Alcohol Policy, which includes federally mandated random drug and alcohol testing for safety-sentisive employees throughout employment.
Motor Vehicle Driver’s License
If the position requires the operation of a motor vehicle, selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License and must maintain an acceptable driving record level throughout employment as monitored by periodic reviews of driving record.
Commercial Driver’s License
If the position requires the operation of a commercial motor vehicle, selected candidate must possess or be able to obtain (within established time frame) a valid Commercial Driver’s License (with appropriate classification and endorsements) and must be able to comply with the provisions of the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1988.
Criminal Background Check
Selected candidates for all positions must be willing to submit to a criminal background investigation, the results of which must meet Mason Transit’s hiring criteria.
