Shelton School District No. 309 & Mason County Transportation Authority has demonstrated the success of coordination using school buses as transit vehicles. Since 1998, the Shelton School District has provided school buses on routes that Mason Transit was unable to offer due to lack of vehicles. These buses continue today providing transportation to the general public as well as school children. The two ZONE routes known as Supplemental Service to Hoodsport and Kamilche serve residents to the North to Hoodsport and to the South to Kamilche Monday through Friday.

Mason County WorkSource & Mason County Transportation Authority has developed a training program for the public, and specifically, caseworkers, assisting Mason County residents seeking training and jobs through the Washington State Employment Security Division. Using the “Road-to-Work” video presentation, we are reaching first time workers, students, and people re-entering the workforce, giving them information on Mason Transit and other transportation resources. Since transportation is the link to getting people to training and work, this is a key component of the skill building necessary for successful productive employment.
